Tom Brady compares  NFL season to military deployment

To talk about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 3-3 start, Tom  Brady joined Jim Gray on the  "Let's Go" podcast.

The team's 20-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday  and moving forward as the  team plays a road game in  Carolina this week.

Brady told Gray, "Even in the  three games we've won, we  haven't played the way we are capable of, especially  offensively."

"All of us are licking our  wounds, reflecting on the  past six weeks and attempting  to do much better.

Brady feels optimistic about  the team's chances of progress with more than half of the  season still to go.

"There is still a great deal of football to be played. 11 games, "the quarterback said. "We're definitely a long way from being the squad we want to be.

I think we have a lot of clever people and a lot of good  systems in place to figure out  what the issues are and  how to solve them.

When questioned about his  verbal outbursts after Sunday's defeat in Pittsburgh, Brady said they were meant to inspire the offensive lineman.

Brady remarked, "It's  motivation." "A horrible day,  in my opinion, is one where  there are more F-bombs than touchdowns. My day wasn't  one of my better ones at all."
